KTM have supported our family for the past three years, and I honestly can’t recommend them enough. They are absolutely amazing! ❤️
My daughter always has so much fun with them, and they go above and beyond every single time. The ongoing support they provide, whatever we need, along with their fantastic communication, has made such a huge difference.
After three years, it genuinely feels like they have become part of our family. You can truly feel how much they care, not just about the support they provide, but about my daughter as a person.
We are forever grateful for everything they do and for the kindness, care and support they continue to show us. Thank you, KTM, for being so amazing! 💕

2. Behaviour, Relationships & Communication
How does KTM Care understand behaviour?
We recognise that all behaviour serves a purpose and is often a form of communication. Rather than focusing solely on behaviours themselves, we seek to understand the individuals experiences, needs, emotions, communication style and environment so that we can provide effective and compassionate support.
What is Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)?
Positive Behaviour Support is a person-centred approach that helps us understand what matters to a person, identify factors that may contribute to distress and develop proactive strategies that improve quality of life. The focus is on increasing opportunities, independence, wellbeing and meaningful participation.
How do you support people when they become distressed?
Our staff are trained to recognise early signs of distress and respond in a calm, respectful, and supportive manner. We use proactive and de-escalation strategies that help people feel safe, understood and supported while maintaining their dignity.
How do you build positive relationships with the people you support?
We believe positive relationships are the foundation of effective support. Our staff take time to understand each individuals preferences, interests, strengths, communication style and goals. By being consistent, respectful, and reliable, we build trust and meaningful connections.
How do you support people with different communication needs?
We adapt our communication approach to suit each individual. This may include visual supports, objects of reference, social stories, communication books, assistive technology, simplified language, visual timetables and other personalised communication methods.
How do you promote choice and independence?
We encourage individuals to make their own decisions wherever possible and support them to have choice and control over their daily lives. Our role is to empower people to develop skills, build confidence, and achieve their personal goals while providing the right level of support.
How do you ensure people’s rights and dignity are respected?
We are committed to treating every person with dignity, compassion and respect. Support is delivered in a way that values individual preferences, cultural identity, personal choices and human rights.
Do you use restrictive practices?
Our aim is always to prevent situations from escalating through proactive planning, effective communication and relationship-based support. Any restrictive intervention would only ever be considered as a last resort, must be lawful and proportionate and would be subject to strict oversight, monitoring and review.
How do you involve families and other professionals?
We recognise the importance of partnership working. With consent, we work closely with families, advocates, schools, colleges, local authorities, healthcare professionals, social workers, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent and coordinated support.
3. Arranging Care & Referrals

Do you accept referrals from Local Authorities and the NHS?
Yes. We accept referrals from local authorities, NHS services, Integrated Care Boards, case managers, education providers and private individuals.
Can support be provided on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis?
Yes. Staffing levels are determined through assessment and are based on individual need, risk, communication requirements and desired outcomes. We can provide both 1:1 and 2:1 support where appropriate.
Do you develop individual support plans?
