Non-School Alternative Provision
Bespoke educational support and life skills development for children with Autism, complex learning disabilities, and additional needs who require a supportive, structured environment outside of mainstream or specialist school settings.
Our Mission Within Alternative Provision
KTM Care is a specialist service for children and young people with autism and learning disabilities. Our non-school alternative provision supports those aged 5–16 who are unable to access mainstream or specialist education.
We work in partnership with families and professionals to deliver tailored programmes that re-engage learners and support successful transitions back into education. We provide a safe, nurturing environment built on trust, relationships and meaningful communication. Every child is supported to feel valued, secure, and a true sense of belonging.

Who We Support
Within our Non-School Alternative Provision, we support children with complex needs, who may present as non/pre-verbal, neurodivergent and/or with a learning disability.
Some children may be undergoing a statutory assessment, whilst others may already have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
How Attendance Works
Children that attend our setting often stay between 3–4 hours per day (maximum 16 hours per week).
This allows for consistency, predictability, routine and the opportunity to co-regulate with adults so that once they are settled, they are able to fully access and enjoy their session.
How We Support Our Learners
We keep a strong connection to our children using visuals, predictability, routine, familiarity, positive engagement and autonomy. We provide:
- Bespoke weekly visual timetables that support preparation and routine.
- Experiences and activities to develop social communication, life skills, independence and community engagement.
- A consistent staff team that builds trust, connection, and emotional security.
- Safe spaces within our HUB based in Stanway and our caravan in Clacton-On-Sea.
- Tailored communication to the child’s level of need (visual aids, communication books, additional processing time, clear non-demanding language, or curious language).
- Staff training & collaboration including regular in-house workshops, parent meetings and reviews to promote child-centred support.
- Learning in a positive, safe and happy environment.
- Enabling their individual independence.
- Actively encouraging essential life, social and communication skills.
- Forming consistent routines and systems that support their development.

Our Badge Programme
Our badge programme is designed to support how children access and engage with their learning, helping them build confidence, independence, and essential life skills. Through a wide range of structured, engaging activities, children work towards badges in four key areas:
This programme underpins core development in English, Maths, speech and language, and motor skills. Activities are carefully structured to balance adult-led goals with individual choice, autonomy, turn-taking, and transition support.
Each badge is personalised to the child’s level. Progress is captured through photos, artwork and written reflections collated in personal folders and celebrated with end-of-term certificates providing families and commissioners clear insight into each child’s achievements.
Enriching Activities
All children are supported to access a range of new, meaningful and purposeful community experiences designed to broaden life skills, build emotional regulation and deepen staff-pupil relationships. Activities may include:
🏰 Soft Play
🎯 Laser Quest
🌲 Outdoor Adventures
🛒 Community Visits & Shopping
🚜 Farm Trips
Activities are tailored to individual interests and integrated into ‘now and next’ visual routines to ensure every child feels safe, excited and supported to explore new environments.

Placements with KTM Care
We believe the best outcomes are achieved when children are surrounded by people who know them well. That’s why we work closely with families, schools, colleges and local authorities to build support that is consistent, connected and tailored to each individual.
